Bob Pittman to Join Board of Soon-to-Launch Airtime
Clear Channel CEO Bob Pittman will join the board of Airtime, the soon-to-launch video start-up from Napster co-founders Sean Parker and Shawn Fanning.
Pittman, who founded MTV, was formerly COO of AOL and CEO of MTV Networks before joining Clear Channel last year. “He’s the only media mogul who’s genuinely an entrepreneur,” Parker told AllThingsD.
Meanwhile, Pittman said, “Sean and Shawn have a unique ability to see opportunities in the consumer internet and create services that fundamentally change our culture. They have a clear and exciting vision for Airtime and have assembled a world class team that can deliver. I am excited to be involved.”
Airtime’s board members are now Parker and Fanning, Pittman, and Bing Gordon of Kleiner Perkins, which recently led a $25 million round of funding for the company.
