BlueStacks Inks Deal With Asus to Bundle Its Android-on-Windows Software
Taiwanese computer maker Asus has signed a deal with start-up BlueStacks to pre-load that company’s software, which allows Android apps to run on Windows computers.
The pact will give Asus PC buyers six months of free access to Android apps, with an option to upgrade to BlueStacks premium options.
“This is like a nitrous boost to the accelerating merger of mobile and PC,” BlueStacks CEO Rosen Sharma said in an email. “It’s hard to differentiate in the PC space — adding the ability to use all the popular mobile apps is a big boost in that area.”
BlueStacks has worked to ensure compatibility with a number of key Android apps, including Fruit Ninja, Evernote, Pulse and Talking Tom, on both touch and non-touch Windows machines.
The software entered testing last year and has been in beta since March.
