Amazon’s Cloud Music Finally Lands on Apple’s iPhone

More than a year after it launched, Amazon’s cloud music service has finally made it to Apple’s iPhones and iPods, via a new iOS app.

The new software will let iOS users download or stream music they’ve stored in Amazon’s locker service and will also play music they already have on their devices, including songs stored in Apple’s native iTunes player.

Apple iPad users have already been able to use Amazon’s cloud service via a browser-based player; Google’s rival cloud service uses a similar solution for iOS devices.

The Amazon app doesn’t appear to let users move music into Amazon’s cloud. And it won’t let users sign up for the service within the app, either — a restriction that is now standard for non-Apple “subscription” services.
