Skout Suspends Teen Service After Rape Allegations Emerge
Skout, a mobile social dating start-up based in San Francisco, suspended its sub-community for teens on Tuesday after allegations emerged that the app may have been used in connection with multiple rape cases over the past month. A number of adults have posed as teenagers on the app to meet with other teens, which allegations say have resulted in the sexual assaults of at least three minors. The teen community will remain suspended while the company works through changes in its safety policies and age verification mechanisms.
