Google Spills the Beans on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Okay, so Google didn’t spill all the beans, but the company certainly left a big hint that it will be revealing the next version of Android at its Google I/O developers conference tomorrow.

A huge statue of spilled jelly beans arrived on the Google campus today, signifying that the launch of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is near.

Google has named each version of Android in alphabetical order after a dessert, starting with Android version 1.5 Cupcake, and has placed an accompanying statue on its lawn prior to their debut.

Jelly Bean follows Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and is expected to be more of an incremental update, though it’s not immediately clear what features will come with the new software. It’s also believed Google will reveal its own tablet, Android home entertainment device and cloud service this week.

Google I/O starts on Wednesday and runs through Friday at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
