Intel Challenges Record-Setting $1.4 Billion EU Antitrust Fine

Chipmaker Intel went to court in Luxembourg today to try to overturn a $1.45 billion antitrust fine imposed by European Union regulators in 2009, according to Reuters. The EU imposed the penalty — its largest ever — after finding that Intel had used anticompetitive tactics against rival Advanced Micro Devices. In a filing, Intel argued that the evidence investigators used was “profoundly inadequate.”
