German Court Bans Galaxy Tab 7.7 Sales Across Europe, Clears Galaxy 10.1N for Sale
The Dusseldorf Higher Regional Court ruled today that the company’s Galaxy 10.1N tablet does not infringe upon Apple’s patents, and can remain on sale in Germany. But the same court also ordered an existing sales ban on Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 7.7 in the country should be extended across the entire European Union, ruling that the device imitated Apple’s designs in an “unacceptable manner.”
Samsung was understandably dismayed. “Samsung is disappointed with the court’s ruling,” the company said in a statement. “We will continue to take all available measures, including legal action, to protect our intellectual property rights and defend against Apple’s claims to ensure our products remain available to consumers throughout the European Union.”
