Apple Expected to Update Buggy Podcasts App Later Today

Since it first debuted nearly a month ago, Apple’s standalone podcast app has been peppered with complaints about its buggy first iteration, which is prone to freezes, crashes and cross-device sync failures.

Indeed, viewed on the iTunes App Store, Podcasts has won for itself a customer rating of just two-and-a-half stars, abysmally low for an Apple-designed app. Worse, of the 5,554 customer ratings posted, some 2,400 give the app a one-star rating. Another 1,186 rate it two stars.

Well, Podcasts users take note: Apple has been hard at work tweaking the app to fix the problems that currently plague it, and sources say the company expects to post an update this afternoon that should vastly improve it.

UPDATE: Apple has indeed updated the app. You’ll find it here.
