Nintendo Pares Losses From 3DS

Nintendo Co. reported a smaller quarterly net loss for the April-June quarter compared with a year earlier, boosted by efforts to pare losses from its 3DS handheld device, but missing a return to profitability because of the stubbornly strong yen and sluggish sales of the Wii home console.

The Kyoto-based videogame maker said it posted a net loss of ¥17.23 billion for the three months ended June 30 versus a loss of ¥25.52 billion in the same period a year earlier. Revenue fell 9.7 percent to ¥84.81 billion in the quarter.
