Showyou Brings Video Search and Social Together in New iPhone App

Showyou, best known for its iPad video browsing app, is now launching a dedicated iPhone version.

The sleek app shows a feed of popular and recent videos based on each user’s Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo and Tumblr streams.

This feed view is different from the iPad, where Showyou has an endless tiling screen. It’s meant for consumption on the go, said Showyou CEO Mark Hall — so make sure you have headphones with you the next time you’re sitting at a bus stop.

Everything within Showyou is personalized, so you’ll see the comments made by your friends alongside each video, so it’s in context. Users can also browse trending videos and suggested feeds.

I’ve also written about other social video consumption apps like Chill, which is hot and beloved by VCs for its Facebook-connected growth but is still Web-only. There are also tons of social video production contenders, such as Socialcam (which Autodesk is buying), Viddy and Vyclone.
