Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12 Improves Accuracy, Adds Android App
Nuance Communications introduced a new version of its speech-recognition software for Windows computers today, promising better accuracy and speed.
Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12, which lets you create content and operate your computer using your voice, offers more than 100 new features, including 20 percent improved accuracy out of the box and a new Android microphone app.
As with previous versions, Dragon learns your style of writing the more you use it, and adds technology to adapt to your formatting preferences for things such as dates, numbers and abbreviations.
Nuance says the software now works better with Gmail and Hotmail, and if it does make a mistake, the corrections list in this version is populated with even more words and alternate word choices.
To dictate text and issue voice commands, you can use the included headset, or you can use your smartphone as a remote microphone. Previously, the free Dragon Remote Mic App was only available for the iPhone, but there is now an Android app, as well.
Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12 is available for preorder now for $100, with an expected ship date of Aug. 13. You will also be able to download the software starting on Aug. 3.
