Coming Soon From Samsung: The Galaxy Tab Cornea
Samsung has a “Retina” resolution tablet in the pipeline, and hopes to bring it to market sometime this year.
Court documents submitted as part of the company’s legal battle with Apple contain a product road map that features a forthcoming LTE tablet code-named “P10” that features an 11.8-inch display and a resolution of 2560 x 1600. That would give it a pixel density of 256 pixels per inch (PPI) — just short of the 264 PPI of Apple’s third-generation iPad.
Not a big surprise, really. After all, Samsung manufactures the new iPad’s Retina Display. Of course, Samsung won’t be able to refer to it as a “Retina” display; Apple is already seeking a trademark on the term as it applies to consumer electronics.
So when can we expect to see Samsung’s new Retina-resolution tablet? Perhaps at the company’s upcoming Aug. 15 Galaxy special event.
