AT&T Says Its Shared-Data Plans Will Arrive August 23
AT&T said Monday that it will begin offering its so-called shared-data plans on Aug. 23.
Shared-data plans, also known as family-data plans, allow customers to pay for a pool of data and use those gigabytes among multiple devices, including phones, tablets and mobile hotspots.
AT&T announced its shared-data plans last month, following a similar move from main rival Verizon.
Verizon is making its shared-data plans the only option for most new customers, while AT&T has said it will continue to offer traditional per-device plans and honor those grandfathered in with unlimited data plans.
Sprint and T-Mobile, meanwhile, have said their focus remains on offering unlimited data plans with their smartphones.
