Verizon, Motorola Announce September 5 Event

September 5 is shaping up to be a big day in the smartphone space. Earlier this week, Microsoft and Nokia broadcast invitations to a Sept. 5 event in New York City at which they are expected to show off their first Windows 8 handsets. Now comes word that Verizon and Motorola have scheduled an event for that day as well. And it, too, is being held in New York City. The companies haven’t disclosed any details about its purpose, but presumably they’re planning to unveil the Droid RAZR HD. Both these events precede by a week the expected debut of Apple’s next-generation iPhone.
