One Giant Step for a Man: R.I.P. Neil Armstrong

One of the world’s greatest icons — astronaut Neil Armstrong — died today at 82 years old.

As everyone knows, he was the first man to walk on the moon, uttering the famous quote when he planted his left foot on its dusty lunar surface: “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

And he’s the one who took that historic step on July 20, 1969, as a half-billion people watched from Earth, putting himself firmly in the pantheon of great explorers.
