Nokia Unveils Midrange Lumia 820
In addition to the Lumia 920, Nokia also introduced the Lumia 820 today. The Windows 8 smartphone doesn’t offer as many high-end features as the flagship Lumia 920, but should carry a more budget-friendly price tag.
The Lumia 820 comes with a smaller 4.3-inch, 800 x 480 pixel touchscreen, but includes the same display technology as the Lumia 920, which allows you to use the screen even if you have gloves on (or long fingernails). The screen also automatically adjusts brightness and color levels for easier reading in sunlight.
The smartphone cannot by wirelessly charged right out of the box, but Nokia will sell an optional wireless-charging cover that will give you the same capabilities as the Lumia 920.
The Lumia 820 will not carry the PureView branding, but still has an eight-megapixel camera with dual flashes and 1080p HD video recording. It can be used with the Nokia City Lens app, as well.
The handset has eight gigabytes of internal memory, but also comes with a microSD expansion slot, and features Snapdragon’s dual-core processor.
The Nokia Lumia 820 will be available in an array of colors, including red, yellow, purple and cyan, but pricing and availability have not yet been announced. Nokia also remained mum on carrier partnerships, but the smartphone will be compatible with LTE 4G and HSPA+ networks.
