The Tweets Are In: Obama’s DNC Speech Tops Twitter Political Season
President Obama set a new Twitter record during his Democratic National Convention speech on Thursday evening, inspiring more than 50,000 election-related tweets per minute at its height, beating all other political events in the six-year history of the platform. Obama bested rival candidate Mitt Romney by a wide margin, with Governor Romney setting off around 14,000 tweets per minute during his RNC speech. Of note: Both candidates saw dips in their Twitter Political Index scores (essentially a measure of Twitter sentiment) directly following their respective speeches.
