Zuckerberg: I Still Code, but Just for Fun

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says software coding is now a hobby rather than a part of his work life.

“I code for fun on the side,” he said.

Zuckerberg noted that Facebook has a rule that everyone is responsible for updating his or her own code. So, rather than get pulled out of management meetings or force others to update his work, he doesn’t really contribute to the main Web site of the social network.

“I don’t check in code to the main branch anymore,” he said, during a speech at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference.

So, does Mark Zuckerberg’s code break?

“Yes, everything I do breaks,” he said. “But we fix it quickly.”

It’s especially hopeless for those whose work is easily digitized and accessed free of charge.
