Square Acquires New York Design Firm 80/20

San Francisco-based Square has always said that the look and feel of its products will be an important element in changing the way people pay. In keeping with that emphasis, it is acquiring New York design firm 80/20, according to an announcement today on 80/20’s Web site. “Square shares our passion for using technology and design to improve people’s lives,” the company said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The roughly 12-person design firm’s portfolio includes user interface design for Vodafone, Verizon and Motorola.
