Andreessen Horowitz Hires Twitter’s Elizabeth Weil to Focus on Social

Elizabeth Weil, who leads corporate design and culture at Twitter, is leaving to join venture firm Andreessen Horowitz.

Weil said today that she will be the firm’s partner in charge of social, working most closely with Mark Cranney.

Weil had spent three years at Twitter, starting in corporate development, where she managed the acquisitions of companies like Tweetie and DabbleDB, then launching the company’s first ad products. Lately, she worked on Twitter’s culture (a particularly relevant topic, given all the personnel changes at the company over its short life).

She noted today that she’s been with Twitter as it grew from 70 to 1,500 employees.

Weil has degrees in management science and engineering from Stanford, and was previously an associate at Twitter investor Institutional Venture Partners.

She’s also one of those crazy multitalents — she runs ultramarathons and manages a letterpress business out of her house in her spare time.

Weil’s husband, Kevin Weil, is director of revenue products at Twitter. Before Elizabeth starts the new gig, the two are running a 100-mile race at elevation in the Himalayas.
