Longtime Nokia Smartphone Executive Departs on Eve of New Windows Phone Launches
Ilari Nurmi, a 15-year Nokia veteran and a top smartphone executive at the company, has left the Finnish phone maker.
“I have left Nokia,” Nurmi said in a tweet on Sunday. “I am thankful for almost 15 (years) there. I wish Nokia all the best and look forward to getting Lumia 920 once available.”
Nurmi, a Nokia vice president, had helped oversee the launch of several Windows-based Nokia phones, including the announcement of the lower-end Lumia 610 back in February.
Nokia did not offer any details on Nurmi’s departure.
