RIM to Devs: We’re Ready for Your BlackBerry 10 Apps

“It’ll be BlackBerry 10 on 10-10.”

That’s how Alec Saunders, Research In Motion’s VP of developer relations, announced the date on which the company would begin accepting BlackBerry 10 application submissions. And now that the date has arrived, the company is reviewing apps targeted for its next-generation operating system.

This is obviously an important step for RIM, as the strength of BB10’s app ecosystem will be a determining factor in the OS’s success. With that in mind, the company is doing all it can to incentivize developers to build apps for its platform. It is promising to review all apps submitted in October and November for preferred placement in BlackBerry App World at launch. And it’s reminding devs of its 10k Developer Commitment: A guaranteed $10,000 in earnings for apps that meet certain quality levels and are submitted to App World before the launch of BlackBerry 10-based devices.
