Because Sometimes Just One Photo (Or App) Isn’t Enough, Tumblr Makes a Photoset App

Tumblr today released a dedicated iOS app for creating what it calls Photosets — groups of pictures with a little bit of layout.

The Photoset app is separate from the main Tumblr app, similar to the way Facebook built specialized apps for photos and messaging.

As photo sharing has become more mobile and thus in the moment, people often share just one picture rather than a whole edited album. But sometimes it takes more than one picture to tell a full story.

Photoset joins existing stitching and montage apps like Pic Stitch, as well as album apps like Batch, which was absorbed into Airbnb.

Here’s a photoset I made myself without too much trouble — though the service does seem to be a bit overloaded this morning. There’s no way to import to WordPress (just Tumblr, Facebook and Instagram), so a screenshot will have to suffice.
