Infinity Blade Dungeons Won’t Ship Until Next Year
IOS gamers have been eagerly awaiting the debut of Infinity Blade: Dungeons since it was first shown off by Epic Games during Apple’s March iPad unveiling. But nearly eight months later, the sword-fighting RPG has yet to appear in the iTunes App Store. Its ship date wasn’t announced at Apple’s recent iPhone 5 event, though many expected that it might be. And now some are speculating that we’ll see the prequel to Infinity Blade released alongside the so-called iPad Mini on Oct. 23.
Sadly, that’s not the case. Infinity Blade aficionados are going to have to wait a little longer to forge their giant axe and use it to beat a dungeon full of grotesqueries into submission. Epic Games tells AllThingsD not to expect Dungeons to ship until next year.
“Ever since the talented team at Impossible Studios got their hands on Infinity Blade: Dungeons, they’ve been busy adding their great ideas to the game,” spokesman Wes Phillips told AllThingsD. “There was also the matter of getting the Impossible Studios team up and running with desks, chairs, staplers and computers. The logistics of a new studio and implementing all these great ideas required a little extra time, so Infinity Blade: Dungeons will hit iOS in 2013.”
That will come as disappointing news to gamers hoping Epic would ship the title before the end of the year. But presumably the wait will pay off with the sort of best-in-class visuals and game play that typifies the franchise. Sources say the team working on the game has more than a few Gears of War vets …
