AT&T Puts Hefty $499 Price Tag on Samsung’s Android-Based Galaxy Camera

Those who want the benefit of pairing Android, a 4G connection and a true point-and-shoot camera will have to pay up for the privilege.

AT&T said Monday that it will sell the Samsung Galaxy Camera for $499. Those who want to save a bit can buy the camera at the same time as another Samsung wireless device and save $100. The carrier had said back in October that it would have the device, but did not announce pricing.

The Galaxy Camera, which will be available starting Nov. 16, packs a 4.8-inch screen, 16-megapixel camera and 21x optical zoom, all powered by a 1.4GHz processor. It can be paired with a variety of AT&T’s mobile share data plans.

AT&T also announced pricing for the HTC One X+ and HTC One VX. The One X+, an update to HTC’s flagship device, will sell for $199, while the lower-end VX will sell for $49, and both will be available on Nov. 16.

The pricing comes a day ahead of an event in New York where HTC and Verizon are set to show off their latest phone collaboration.
