Microsoft Announces New VP of International Research
Microsoft announced on Tuesday that the company has hired Jeannette Wing to lead Microsoft Research International, the company’s applied computing research arm, spanning 13 offices globally with more than 850 PhD researchers in the organization. Previously, Wing did a four-year stint as the assistant director of research for the National Science Foundation, and headed the computer science department at Carnegie Mellon University. Wing will join Microsoft at the beginning of the year, heading up oversight for the company’s labs in southeast Asia and England.
