Post-Production on “The Hobbit” Goes Into High-Tech Rush (Video)

Here’s a great and perhaps final video from director Peter Jackson, whose next film, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” will premiere later this week in New Zealand.

Jackson has been making a lot of very interesting reports about the making of the tech-laden film, which is being rushed to completion right now. Jackson said he and his crew there will be at work on the CGI and other tech elements until just before it is shown.

For example, “The Hobbit” will be the first shown in 3-D at a high frame rate of 48 frames per second, which is a very big deal and is supposed to depict the characters more realistically.

Moore’s Law means that more and more things can be done practically for free, if only it weren’t for those people who want to be paid. People are the flies in Moore’s Law’s ointment. When machines get incredibly cheap to run, people seem correspondingly expensive.
