Dish Asks FCC to Halt Sprint-Softbank Review Clock
Dish Network Corp. has asked the Federal Communications Commission to halt the regulatory-review “shot clock” for Softbank Corp.’s plans to buy a 70 percent stake in Sprint Nextel Corp. for $20 billion.
In the filing, posted Thursday, Dish said many issues are unresolved in the acquisition review, which includes Sprint’s deal to buy the rest of majority-owned Clearwire Corp. Dish recently proposed a $3.30-a-share offer for Clearwire, above Sprint’s agreement to pay $2.97 a share, and says that uncertainty surrounding process could lead to major amendments to the Sprint/Softbank review.
