Twitter Competitor App.net Launches File-Hosting Feature

App.net, the paid social website that aims to take on Twitter, released its file application programming interface on Monday, allowing users of the service to host up to 10 gigabytes of file storage on their App.net account. Users can host files like photos or videos without “siloing” them in a particular service (i.e. Facebook), making for better portability of data among services.
