Meet.fm Tries to Make Online Meetings Modern and Accessible

Every couple months we hear of another startup wanting to take down WebEx and GoToMeeting. And, given my gig, I’m a total sucker for that particular pitch. The latest is Meet.fm, from a company called YouDazzle, backed by former Facebook exec Chamath Palihapitiya and NetSuite co-founder Evan Goldberg.

Meet.fm is an audio- and videoconferencing web app that’s built to work across platforms including iOS and Android without any software downloads, both for hosting and attending meetings.

It’s not a dramatically different approach to conference calls, but it’s built to be more accessible and mobile.

Meet.fm said it allows for co-browsing the Web by multiple participants in a meeting, and is integrated with many cloud file services, like Box and Dropbox. Each host gets a standing URL where they can slap on their own brand art.

The service is free for up to three participants and 500 meeting minutes, and costs as much as $199 per month for more than 500 participants and unlimited meeting minutes.
