Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC Corp. expects first-quarter revenue and profit margins to fall as it battles intense competition from Apple Inc., Samsung Electronics Co. and makers of low-cost phones.
HTC said it hopes revenue in the second quarter and beyond would get a boost from a new flagship phone and continued growth in emerging markets, though analysts were skeptical about the company’s outlook.
