U.S. Mail Delivery Is Taking the Weekend Off — Permanently
The United States Postal Service announced this morning that, in a cost-cutting measure, it will only deliver mail on weekdays.
The long-discussed plan is set to kick in Aug. 1, but it hasn’t yet been approved by Congress. It’s forecasted to save $2 billion annually.
Because of continued growth and profitability in delivery of packages, those will continue to arrive at people’s doors six times per week.
So, shall we blame Lance? It’s way bigger than that. The USPS had a $15.9 billion net loss in fiscal 2012.
