BlackBerry’s BBM Music Takes a Dirt Nap

Remember BBM Music, BlackBerry’s “easy-to-use social and viral music discovery” service? No? Didn’t even know BlackBerry had a music discovery service, did you? Well, BlackBerry said Thursday it will shutter BBM Music on June 2, pulling the plug on a far too limited (for $4.99 a month you can store 50 songs on your BBM Music Profile!) and late-to-market service that was in all likelihood destined for failure from the day it launched. BlackBerry is offering existing BBM Music subscribers a free 30-day trial to Rdio as a good faith gesture.
