Samsung Introduces the Mega, an Even Bigger Phablet

If you’ve been looking at the Samsung Galaxy Note II and wishing it were just a little bit larger, you’re in luck.

Samsung on Thursday introduced the Galaxy Mega — an even bigger “phablet” than its already substantial Galaxy Note.

The Mega will come in both 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch sizes, offering two new finger-stretching options. It borrows several features from the just-introduced Galaxy S4, including the ability to capture photos with audio and to do real-time translation.

“We are aware of a great potential in the bigger screen for extensive viewing multimedia, Web browsing, and more,” Samsung Electronics CEO JK Shin said in a statement.

The Mega will be available globally, starting with Russia and Europe in May. No specific mention of U.S. availability was made in the announcement.

With the launch of the Mega, Samsung really does have a device at every screen size, given that it now has the Galaxy Tab 2 at seven inches and the Galaxy Note 8.0.
