Los Angeles Arrives Fashionably Late to Banning Ride Apps
Los Angeles yesterday sent cease-and-desist letters to taxi alternatives Uber, Lyft and SideCar, citing their lack of permits and licenses to run commercial transportation services. Though the state of California had previously cleared the companies, L.A.’s taxicab administrator threatened to arrest drivers and impound their vehicles. As has become tradition, a Change.org petition protesting the ban has acquired thousands of signatures.
