New Yorkers: Uber Will Shuttle You to the Hamptons in a Chopper

New Yorkers: Heading out to the far reaches of Long Island for the Fourth? Finally, there’s an alternative to stuffing your family in the car for the road trip.

Uber, the app-powered private driver service, is running a pricey promotion for the day before the Fourth of July: Instead of sitting in traffic, some Uber users can hire a helicopter — UberChopper, natch — to fly them to their weekend getaway.

The cost? A cool $3,000.

The decadent gimmick will be operating in conjunction with Uber’s SUV service to run throughout the Hamptons — one of the most expensive residential areas in all of the United States — for the Fourth of July weekend.

The service comes complete with door-to-door shuttle service to and from one of a few heliports in New York City, and to the destination of your choice upon landing in the Hamptons.

Not so rich but still carless? Fear not — Uber can shuttle you down the shore using one of its UberX, UberBLACK or UberSUV services for $300, $400 or $500, respectively.

Too rich for the masses, perhaps. But at least it’s not as expensive as a BlackJet.
