Photo-Sharing Startup Cooliris Partners With China’s Tencent, Russia’s Yandex

Cooliris, the Kleiner Perkins-backed startup focused on bringing a photo-browsing gallery-like product to mobile and the Web, announced on Tuesday a new joint partnership with Tencent and Yandex, two of the largest Internet and media companies in China and Russia, respectively.

The partnership integrates photos from Tencent’s Weibo platform (a Twitter-like service), as well as indexed images from Yandex’s search engine, the largest search product in Russia. Users can browse those images using Cooliris’ gallery products on Android and iOS devices, as well as the mobile Web.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Tuesday also brought a deeper integration between Cooliris and other outside photo services, including Evernote, Tumblr and SkyDrive, as well as the ability to search for hashtags on photos.
