Samsung Shows Off Future of Wearables and Phone Displays in Concept Video
While today’s smartphones are a big hunk of glass with a power-hungry display, the future of mobile computing will be lighter, more malleable and, in many cases, worn on our bodies.
At least that’s the vision Samsung is putting forth in a new concept video that Samsung strategy chief Young Sohn showed off on Tuesday at the start of the MobileBeat conference in San Francisco. In the video, a woman is combining her smartphone with a disposable sensor to get health data, and then sharing that with her doctor.
“We think the health area is a really key area of innovation,” said Sohn.
While only about 10 percent of those at the conference were using a wearable device, Sohn said that number is poised to rise sharply as computing gets woven into clothing and integrated into glasses, watches and other products.
