NCAA Will Not Renew EA Sports Contract (But College Football Games Will Go On)
The National Collegiate Athletic Association will not renew its contract with EA Sports, it announced today. That means the organization’s name and logo will not be behind any EA Sports game after the current contract runs out in June 2014. EA currently develops the NCAA Football series, which has used the NCAA brand since 1997. The contract non-renewal does not affect individual teams and athletes who play within the NCAA and whose names and likenesses the collegiate organization does not license out. Update: EA Sports says it will continue to make college football games.
