Apple Issues Software Update for Spotty Wi-Fi on Some New MacBook Airs

Apple has issued a software update it said will fix the scattered issues that arose last month with the computer maker’s newest MacBook Air model.

The problems, which appeared not to be widespread among MacBook Air owners, had to do with the super-slim laptop’s ability to maintain a consistent Wi-Fi connection.

As I wrote last month, for some Air users the issues were fixed by updating the firmware on older models of at-home Wi-Fi routers, according to Apple forums. Others suggested the problems were in the software of the laptop.

“Updating the firmware and changing the router channel to WPA-2 has helped so now it only drops WiFi maybe once or twice a day instead of every 5 minutes,” one commenter wrote in the forums, earlier today.

Apple has heard customers’ pleas, it seems. The software update, which can be found here, also fixes issues in Adobe Photoshop, including screen flickering and audio volume fluctuation, Apple said.
