NBC to Emphasize Live Events in Lineup

NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt was frank about the network’s failures last season in addressing a press tour Saturday but said it is making strides to overcome the systemic challenges that have turned broadcast television into what some consider the “bastard child” of the industry.

Addressing the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., Mr. Greenblatt highlighted NBC’s improved position in the network ratings race, while acknowledging the headwinds broadcasters face. Last season all four major broadcast networks lost viewers in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, and none earned an Emmy nomination for best drama for the second year in a row.
