Facebook Acquires Speech-Recognition Outfit Mobile Technologies
Facebook announced Monday that it has acquired Mobile Technologies, a Pittsburgh-based company focused on speech recognition and machine translation technology. The announcement was made by Tom Stocky, one of the leads on Facebook’s Graph Search initiative (which I’d guess means the acquired team will bolster Facebook’s efforts in the Search space). Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but some members of the startup will join Facebook’s Menlo Park headquarters as a result of the deal.
