T-Mobile Says Service Restored After Brief Issues Earlier Friday

T-Mobile US was hit with an issue late Friday that interrupted service for some customers.

“Service was restored more than an hour ago,” a T-Mobile representative said in an email on Friday night. “There were intermittent issues in some locations. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to our customers.”

CEO John Legere also addressed the issue on Twitter.

“Sorry. There is/was a network issue in a few areas,” Legere said in a tweet while the issue was still going on. “I am working on it with team. It is being resolved quickly.”

He followed up later, telling another customer that “All should be restored now … If not then tell me. I apologize for the brief issue.”

Legere has been working to bolster T-Mobile’s image as an “uncarrier,” doing away with some cellular industry standards, such as two-year service contracts.

While plenty of people were criticizing T-Mobile on Twitter during the service issues, Legere’s direct approach also appeared to garner significant praise.

“You’re like some kind of superhero or something, seriously,” wrote one poster, with another customer saying that he had trouble making calls during the service interruption but nonetheless loves the company.
