Facebook Names Ashlie Beringer as Deputy General Counsel

Facebook on Thursday named Ashlie Beringer as its new deputy general counsel.

Beringer, a longtime attorney and partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, will oversee the litigation, regulatory and product groups in Facebook’s law department.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Ashlie to Facebook,” a Facebook spokesperson told AllThingsD. “We have always been impressed with her toughness and commitment to innovation on behalf of her clients, and look forward to having her on our team.”

Before joining Facebook, Beringer worked for Gibson Dunn for eight and a half years, representing clients in both the tech and media space. That includes, funnily enough, defending Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne in a series of contract disputes related to the couple’s TV show, “The Osbournes.”

Other focuses in her work include defense against patent, copyright and trademark disputes, with several involving tech, games, ad networks and e-commerce platforms. Before joining Gibson Dunn, Beringer was an associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.

She begins her new position in November, and will report to Facebook’s recently appointed general counsel, Colin Stretch.
