eBay Posts Mixed Third Quarter and Warns of “Cautious Outlook” for Holiday Season
EBay’s stock is down four percent in after-hours trading after it posted mixed results in the third quarter.
Revenue came in at $3.89 billion for the quarter, below analyst estimates of $3.91 billion, and in the bottom half of the range eBay had provided last quarter. The revenue total for the quarter marked a 14 percent increase over the same period last year.
EBay also registered adjusted earnings per share of 64 cents, which beat Wall Street’s average estimate of 63 cents.
The company said it had a “cautious outlook” for the holiday season, and its forecasted revenue range for the fourth quarter reflected as much; it was $4.5 billion to $4.6 billion compared to analyst expectations of $4.64 billion.
