Apple Spanks WiLAN in Patent Fight
WiLAN managed to squeeze some money out of BlackBerry and Hewlett-Packard with its patent infringement suits, but it won’t be reaping any windfalls from Apple. On Wednesday a Texas court ruled in Apple’s favor in a suit WiLan brought against it in 2011 over wireless tech patents. WiLAN had sought $248 million from Apple, but won’t collect a penny. Apple declined comment. WiLAN shares are down nearly 3 percent in after hours trading.
