Kodak Licenses Patents to Imax

Eastman Kodak Co. has licensed a portion of its patents to big-screen movie specialist Imax Corp., in a deal that will provide it with some extra cash while it works to complete a large patent sale that is crucial to its turnaround.

Imax will pay Kodak an upfront fee of tens of millions of dollars — but less than $50 million — and will pay recurring royalties and other payments as it uses the Kodak patents to make products, said a person familiar with the matter.
