D: Dive Into Media is the newest brand extension of D: All Things Digital, founded by Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher. Building from the successful D: Dive Into Mobile, this new venture, D: Dive Into Media, took place January 30 and 31, 2012, at the stunning Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel in southern California.

While D: All Things Digital explores the bigger picture and analyzes the impact that the digital revolution has had on every facet of our lives, D: Dive Into Media drilled down into the evolutionary changes that are underway in media and what those changes mean for the industry’s future.

Rapid advances in digital technology means consumers can now read, watch and listen to nearly anything they want, on any device they want, whenever they want. What does that mean to the world’s biggest media companies? Is this a great time to be in the business of making and distributing content? Or a terrifying one? Or both?

D: Dive into Media took an in-depth look at those questions, and posed them to the leaders of the most powerful companies in the TV, movie, music and publishing industries. We highlighted some of the most interesting startups that aim to reshape those businesses. Writers, entertainers and other content creators who’ve been able to harness technology to create new opportunities for themselves also took the stage.

Like every other D conference, there were be no PowerPoints, no panels and definitely no pontificating — only D’s signature style unrehearsed, unscripted and unexpected interviews.
