A half-dozen former FDA employees have filed suit against the agency, offering evidence it secretly monitored their personal email for two years after they took their concerns about medical-device approvals to Congress. According to the Washington Post, the staffers contend the workplace monitoring was improper because the private activity was legal; the FDA may counter with allegations that confidential information was being disclosed.

Apparently, it’s not only in Google’s pond where Facebook fishes for talent–the social networking giant has recruited Microsoft’s global advertising head Carolyn Everson as one of its top sales execs.
A Facebook spokesperson confirmed the hiring, after a query by BoomTown.
The move will surely cause some tensions with the software giant, which is both a prominent partner of and investor in Facebook, especially since Everson was only hired at Microsoft last June after a long search.

Some non-news from Washington: The Federal Communications Commission says it will approve the Comcast-NBC Universal deal, with some restrictions. The approval isn’t a surprise, though it’d be nice to tell you what those restrictions are. Alas, for now, we can’t.

The National Labor Relations Board is taking a stand on employees’ rights to post negative comments about supervisors on social networking sites, alleging that a company illegally fired a worker for criticizing her boss on Facebook. The agency disclosed the complaint last week against ambulance service American Medical Response of Connecticut Inc.
