Online Retro Clothing Shop ModCloth Closes $25 Million in Funding

ModCloth, an online retailer focused on retro-looking woman’s apparel, has raised $25 million in funding. The round was led by Norwest Venture Partners, with Accel Partners also participating. The capital will help expand the site’s “Be the Buyer” program, which allows customers to vote on items they’d like to see produced. The San Francisco-based company, which was founded by high school sweethearts Eric Koger and Susan Gregg Koger, has 300 employees.

Gilt Groupe Expands E-Commerce Sites Into 90 Countries

Gilt Groupe is expanding its flash sales sites from the U.S. into 90 countries worldwide, entering markets where the flash sales concept originated. The membership site sells apparel for men, women and kids, as well as home decor, at close to 60 percent off retail price. Next month, the full-price brand Park & Bond will follow. Gilt has partnered with FiftyOne to enable international transactions, including currency conversion and delivery.
